Greenland Expedition - Arctic Kites
Tuesday, August 18th, 2009
During April and May 2008 the Arctic Kites team crossed the Greenland Icecap to raise money for charity. This 672km journey from Nagtivit on the East coast to Ilulissat on the West coast was undertaken on skis, whilst hauling pulks each weighing around 100kg. Whenever the conditions were appropriate sails were used to pull the team and their pulks across the ice.
During the expedition Marc De Keyser kindly provided the team with up to date weather forecast information that was specific to their location on the icecap. This enabled the team to travel efficiently by using the best winds that were likely to be available.
