Weather Forecast North East West passage -31 Aug- day 49

General situation
The exact track of the Russian depression is still not very clear. The latest run of the model shows this depression again moving more Southwards which results in a stronger wind with big headwind component along the 70-71 parallel.
Today North of 70/70.5°N the wind blows straight East with a speed of about 20kt. South of 70/69.5°N the wind is more SE (less headwind component) and less strong.
Tomorrow the center of the depression moves over your position: as a result the wind increases and turns (backs) straight E to ENE.
The further outlook doesn’t offer any better nex: a part of that depression splits off and move across the Chukchi Sea towards Alaska, which, unfortunately, maintains the headwind component.
