Weather Forecast North East West passage -30 Aug- day 48
General situation
The high pressure system is heading further to the East so the period with the slack wind is about to end. In the wake of that high follows the depression that deepens over the Russian mainland. The good news is that this will introduce again more wind, the bad news is that this wind will have a headwind component. Compared to yesterday this eastward tracking depression follows a course that will be a little more to the North so that means that the strong Easterly windfield will be more to the North as well. So for tomorrow if you could stay as South as possible (close to the coast) than the wind will be less strong and more veered to a SE to SSE’ly direction (less headwind component). Later during this period the wind will turn to a straight Easterly direction and than you could tac to the NE to head more Northwards.
The center of that Russian depression will follow your tracks and comes across with outbreaks of sleet (or rain). (Probably on the 31st of Aug or the 1st of September).
