Weather Forecast North East West passage -02 Aug- day 20

Today last leg towards Yukorski Strait and than waiting for favourable winds to enter the Kara Sea.
This last leg is dominated by a moderate Westerly wind along the Southern side of the mobile depression, this generates a moderate swell. As this low moves away to the East a high pressure cell will build over the Kara Sea tomorrow. The center of this feature moves from 73.5/62.4 (at9utc) to 73.5/69.5 (at21utc). Translated to wind directions this means: today and tonigh along the western flank of the depression the wind turns Northerly almost over the entire Kara Sea but it weakens when the high builds and turns to SE as the center of the high moves away.
On the 3th of Aug wind at the entrance of the Kara sea turns to ESE after 12/15utc: if ice conditions are good, this would be a good moment to leave the Y-strait.
(All forecasted winds are average values).
