The latest sat shot shows patchy high clouds over Northwest Greenland. These are linked to a decaying frontal system. A consequence during the following days of the passage of this system is the increase of the moisture content of the air mass, resulting in low clouds/fog patches but also possible ice accretion.
20/05/10 - day 1
- Wind: SE 5-10kt, after 15/18utc becoming SSW to SW 4-8kt.
- Weather: weak sunny spells to start. Later brighter sun, larger breaks. After 21/24utc formation of significant amount of low clouds/fog patches.
- Temperature: Min06utc=-20c dayMax(18utc)=-14C
21/05/10 - day 2
- Wind: S 5-10kt, after 15utc S 8-13kt. Wind increase forecasted yesterday is much less pronounced.
- Weather: low clouds/(ice) fog patches, after 12/15utc some weak sunny spells. Air mass remains quite moist/icy, resulting in ice formation (accretion)
- Temperature: (6utc)=-18°C (18utc)=-14°C.
22/05/10 - day 3
- Wind: SSW 8-13kt, no significant change
- Weather: pretty similar as the day before, foggy/hazy and low cloud patches. icy-moist. The Stratus layer is shallow but persistent
- Temperature: (6utc)=-16°C (18utc)=-10°C.
