Forecast NBQ -07 april 2010- day 6

Sunrise over the Arctic Sea. From John Houston and Tyler Fish’ North Pole 09 expedition
Position evening of the 7th: N89°22.193 E0139°46.357
Troy called in last night, after a day that was probably the worst of the whole journey. I told him that the next days the conditions will gradually improve, breaking of the clouds, some sunny spells, better contrast, a bit of a horizon, so that is all good news. On the other hand the wind direction still remains from the wrong sector:W to NNW, which triggers a negative drift of the sea ice. But if you read the forecast on the 10th, the wind becomes weak and than turns to the South to South East. And than it is expected to stay from that direction at least for an other three days.
So the most important thing for the next three days is not to loose too much distance from the pole (maybe making some progress) in order to make significant progress from the 10th or 11th. God speed!
